It’s amazing to think of all the technological advances that have come along in the last decade to help make our lives easier and more interesting at the same time. Computers and technology seems to be developing at such a rapid pace that it can almost make your head spin. According to Moore’s Law - the number of transistors that can fix on a computer circuit doubles every two years, so it’s no wonder that technology and solar panel devices keep popping up every few years. It gets even more exciting when you start to think about where the advancements are heading in the future.
Flying cars and robots may be science fiction staples that many wish would show up, but one area that we many experts feel we should be better with is speech technology. While the technology is there and is slowly working its way into the mainstream in the form of voice recognition software we still have a long way to go. With voice recognition, many of the barriers of illiteracy can be alleviated, rather than do something yourself - just like on Star Trek - you can ask a computer to do it. This is perhaps considered the ultimate in user interfaces, where you don’t need to program or even physically interact with the computer or your car or just about any other appliance in your home to get the result you want.
This technology is already here and it’ll only become more integrated in our lives as time passes. We’ll have wireless satellite internet service so that we can connect from anywhere in the globe, and cell phones and computers will continue to shrink in size. Right now IBA is developing computer technology based on the way DNA molecules are chained together, to allow for smaller, denser and ultimately faster microchips than ever before. Wireless technology will be passed over by integrated technology that is with you day and night…implanted under your skin! How’s that for connectivity?
If you’re excited about the latest technology gadgets then all of these developments must be music to your ears; the future truly promises wondrous things. While new technology may not provide us with flying hybrid cars anytime soon, we can still appreciate the technology that we have today and imagine what the future will bring.
